Embracingis a major challenge, say various studies.

To overcome these, one needs proper planning, a clear-cut roadmap, and the right talent, they aver.

First and foremost, you need to have a convincing cloud idea in place. You need to identify what type of offering will go well with your business. What kind of cloud technology is best suited for you?

Next part is identifying how cloud will add value to your business. What tasks should be transferred on to the cloud? How much money will you spend on cloud computing without affecting your normal business revenues? Should you have a dedicated staff in-house for cloud tasks?

The other test is asking yourself if your company is ready for a cultural shift that comes along with the introduction of cloud. How will you get around to convincing your security and the managerial staff about the necessity of moving on to a cloud?

It is a fact that cloud is being seen as an alternative where many companies would like to shift their storage, email, services and main applications to. The moot question, however, for your company would be to decide on what type of cloud would best suit your business needs.

Would it be public, private or hybrid? How would you zero in on the right mix of Infrastructure as a Service (Iaas), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings for your company? Will moving on to a cloud cut your costs sufficiently?

If private cloud is your choice, how will its deployment affect architecture of your data center? Since it is the most costly cloud offering, is it worth for your company to go for it?

If public cloud is what you want, what applications would be transferred to the virtual space? If that is the case, when you access applications would it be necessary to take consent from your IT team?

If you chose hybrid cloud, how much flexibility will it give your company to manage and customize your applications?

Whatever the cloud service you choose, you have to ensure that your data is secure. Your security team needs to be convinced about your organization’s need to go for a cloud.

When you finally get a cloud, more than half of your applications will be virtualized. How easy is it for you to see your physical devices run as virtual devices?

How would you decide the proper level of recovery in your company? You should decide on the security levels needed for your organization.

Before buying a cloud service, you also need to see which vendor’s offering will be apt for your organization. The after-sales services they offer and their quality of services also need to be looked into, the studies add.
